(Don't worry Battlestar Galactica - you're still my favorite. And I miss you so much it hurts sometimes.)
Oh Stargate Universe. I think you're great. I'm really upset that I only have four more episodes to watch before I'm done with you forever. Give my regards to Netflix for streaming you. I hope you don't poorly or I'll probably delete this post - but for now, let's just let these feelings go where they will.

Can you believe it's already the last week of July?!?
When I was younger, we started school in early to mid-August, so this week was like the death knells of Summer. What sucks the most is that August always seems to be the hottest month - so even though it feels like Summer should be ending, the heat makes it feel like it's in full swing. I had a point to this post... Oh, I miss Summer Vacation. Being a grown-up sucks. I actually went to the gym tonight... to work out... Who am I!?!
Let's be honest - it wasn't a "real" workout - I walked on the stairstepper (Stair Master?) for 25 minutes. And damn was I sweating by the end of it. You'd think I was running a marathon. That's how sad my life has become - I'm sweating profusely after 25 minutes of climbing stairs that go nowhere. In other news, did you know how many calories are in peanut butter? Because it's honestly offensive. I love peanut butter - but damn. I don't love it enough to use it as much as I have been up until now. I mean, I'll be honest. I always knew that peanut butter wasn't the healthiest of all the butters - and I use it a little too liberally - but cripes. It is ungodly the caloric wallop that a single sandwich with five/six teaspoons of peanut butter packs. Peanut Butter, you and I are definitely fighting. Almost forgot to mention how AMAZING Dolly Parton was at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday. It was seriously a fantastic show. She is hilarious. She had little stories and jokes between each song - and they were really funny. She isn't afraid of making fun of herself and it was great. Here are some pictures. Although parking is a pain - and I kind of hate dealing with large crowds of people - the Hollywood Bowl is a really great experience. I highly recommend it to everyone.
I decided to attempt climbing a tree for the first time in a long time. Potential 122-er, you should know this fact about me: I was never a big tree-climber - and this video let's you clearly see why. Thanks to my friend Sherri for the constant words of encouragement. You can't quite make it out at the end of the video - but my arms were a little scratched after that graceful decent. The Tree's Wrath!Tonight was the Gay Men's Chorus' annual membership banquet. I can't tell you how much I love being a member of this organization. It is so much fun - and the people are amazing. And we make good music - it's just a really awesome experience and I'm so upset that I waited so long before finding it and joining.
The soccer game was a lot of fun - we sang well and then stayed for the rest of the game. Chivas USA (our hosts) won the game 3-0... so HOORAY! Clearly I'm not a fan... If you want me to like your team, just host an Equality Night... or better yet, just have some really attractive male players that take their shirts off after the game...
And - possibly a little known fact - but if Chivas USA wins, the local Krispy Kreme gives away a free box of six doughnuts... so you know where I was directly following the game. All you have to say is sugar coated fried dough, and I am THERE! This morning I am on my way to help a friend move into a new apartment. I have a little video from the Dolly Parton concert last night that I will upload later.
And then this afternoon, the Gay Men's Chorus is singing the National Anthem at the Chivas USA soccer game!!! YAY Soccer Equality Night! I actually haven't spend enough time in New York to actually love it. I think total I've spent two days in NYC.
BUT REGARDLESS! This weekend, marriage equality becomes official in New York. They're already handing out over 800 marriage licenses to same-sex couples on Sunday and I'm sure there will be many, many more before this time next week. This with the Certification of Repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell - which could possibly take place TODAY (and would then require another 60 day waiting period) - - AND - - the Senate taking up the repeal of The Defense of Marriage Act!! It's all so exciting! The equality movement feels like it's gaining momentum. It is getting better. I woke up with Dolly Parton stuck in my head because of the Bowl show tonight. I'm so excited.
I just have to get through my nine hour day (working nine to six) and then it's a party at the Hollywood (Dollywood?) Bowl and the WEEKEND! (PS - I already regret the Dollywood Bowl joke above. Please don't hold it against me.) |
