ALC - First Ride is Tomorrow

10/21/2011

I am riding in the AIDS/Lifecycle next summer (from San Francisco to LA to raise funds and awareness for AIDS research) - and tomorrow morning is the first training ride. I. am. so. nervous!

We're meeting in Santa Monica at 7am. Yes, that's right - 7am - on a Saturday morning.

For those of you that have already done some sort of sporty-fundraisy-requires training event, this may seem like common sense. But this is my first sporty-fundraisy-requires training event - and I couldn't be more anxious about the entire experience.

So, wish me luck - in 24 hours, I'll be in the thick of it.

Christmas Songs

My roommate and I were discussing Christmas songs tonight - which ones we liked and which ones we hated.

We're only about a month away from the big holiday push!

And then we're only a little over two months away from New Years Eve! And I don't even have plans yet!!!

Dear Jonathan Coulton,

I think you're great.

Thanks,
Steve

PS - Dear 122-er, I plan to sing this to you on our third date. You are hereby forewarned.

PPS - I also plan to show you similarly creepy anime pictures like the one featured in this video. But, I won't make you sit through 50 seconds of silence at the end of the song - so, you're welcome on both accounts.

MORE progress

10/19/2011

Alright, I'm really proud of myself. I'm making some real progress with my room. I have to say I was really embarrassed after posting that picture yesterday - but it has been the motivation that I have needed. My room is not clean (yet) by any means, but I'm getting there... I spent about an hour on it tonight.

It's actually really sad that sentimental value that I give things - they're just things - and yet I get upset when I go to throw them away.

Ugh. I'm not bad enough to be on Hoarders or anything - but I can totally relate to those people.

Progress

Alright - tonight I made some progress on my room. I need to remind myself that tonight isn't about the finished product - it's about progress. And I made progress.

I'm going to show you a picture of my room. Not because I'm proud of it - but because I'm actually ashamed. It shouldn't be this bad - I should have been able to stop it before it got to this place. And I didn't.

But tonight, it's cleaner than this - because I'm attacking the mess in baby steps. And I'm winning.

I'll get through this. I will.

FAIL

Well, Monday sure came and went fast without me doing my 20 minutes of cleaning... I guess I'll have to do 40 minutes to make up for it.

This resolution sucks.

New Week Resolution

This week, I'm going to do something different - I'm going to devote 20 minutes a day to organizing my room. Here's another not-so-fun fact about me - my room is a little on the messy side - not because I like it that way, just because I'm not the most organized. But this week - I change that. This week, I am going to get my room in order - 20 minutes at a time.

NEWSIES! (and tap dancing)

10/15/2011

After seeing Newsies (The Musical) live on stage in New Jersey, I have decided I need to resume tap classes. And by resume, I mean, actually start - because let's be honest the "Intro to Tap" class I took during my last semester in college probably hasn't held up for the past six years.

Here is the video for the movie version to the song that had a big tap number in the stage version. Skip to the 1:35 mark for the tapping (but don't skip, because it's awesome).

Also, feel free to skip to the 2:10 mark to see the move I tried to imitate as a ten-year-old and nearly died - twice.

At least I knew at age ten that I couldn't actually swing on a ceiling fan (2:20 mark) - even though I really (really, really) wanted to.
