In the video below I tell my roommate Jesse about my experience at the American Laser Center and the possible pain I will go through for the price of beauty.

I cut this from the main whitewater rafting video. But I think it's a great moment and really represents a pattern in our friendship. Thank you, Jane - for keeping me as respectable as possible. We went wine tasting last weekend in Ojai, CA. and the waiter caught me staring at him. I'm sorry - I'm a starer! (starer? learer? oggler? Oggler makes me sound like a member of a strange race in a Harry Potter novel... So today is the first of May. (Quick Side Note: Did anyone else make May Baskets as a child and hand them out to your friends on May Day? Was that just a Nebraska thing?) Anyway, today is May 1st - so I'm no longer the Sally on my friend's website (www.12goals12months.com). April was a great month. One of the biggest and best – but now that I'm in my post-Sally days, I have to keep looking and moving forward. That’s all we can do, right? And because that felt a bit too deep for this blog – here’s a song called "First Of May" by Jonathan Coulton which is awesome (CAUTION: Contains Adult Language - NOT suitable for work): My roommate Jesse was on a date (with a girl, but they went to The Abbey in WeHo) - and I decided to check it out. But I made one small mistake when I decided to bike there. Today I saw a tweet that linked to a picture of Joel Burns volunteering with an area Habitat for Humanity. So, I responded to that tweet with just a brief comment "you are seriously amazing." - AND HE RESPONDED!!! Can you believe that!?!? He has no idea who I am! Anyway, if you don't know why I'm slightly obsessed with Joel Burns - please watch this video below. And if you can watch it the entire way through without feeling moved, you have no soul. Ok, if you weren't moved, you still most likely have a soul - but come on! How can you watch that and not tear up a bit?!?
Joel - I said it early today, and I'll say it again - you are seriously amazing. Thank you for being such an inspiration and positive voice in the LGBT Community. |
