Workout Failure

8/11/2011

Today was another workout failure day - not because something happened during a workout - but because I actually failed to do it completely.

I set my alarm early to get up and go to the gym - and then when the alarm went off, I just reset it for the normal time. And the scary thing is that I don't even really remember doing it - so my excuse today is that I need more sleep so that when my alarm does go off early, I actually wake up.

That's a justifiable excuse, right?

And with that, I'll grab a sausage McGriddle on my way to work - I love productive days.

The Gym & Peanut Butter

I actually went to the gym tonight... to work out... Who am I!?!

Let's be honest - it wasn't a "real" workout - I walked on the stairstepper (Stair Master?) for 25 minutes. And damn was I sweating by the end of it. You'd think I was running a marathon. That's how sad my life has become - I'm sweating profusely after 25 minutes of climbing stairs that go nowhere.

In other news, did you  know how many calories are in peanut butter? Because it's honestly offensive.

I love peanut butter - but damn. I don't love it enough to use it as much as I have been up until now. I mean, I'll be honest. I always knew that peanut butter wasn't the healthiest of all the butters - and I use it a little too liberally - but cripes. It is ungodly the caloric wallop that a single sandwich with five/six teaspoons of peanut butter packs.

Peanut Butter, you and I are definitely fighting.

Of Course This Happened

I had rehearsal tonight for the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles - as well as auditions for solos (which went well, by the way - but I still don't know if I got one or not). Regardless, I have to leave right from work without much time to grab food beforehand - so I usually just eat a granola bar in the car on the way. Not a big deal, right?

WRONG.

As I was climbing BACK into my car tonight after rehearsal was over - I noticed something on my seat, so I went to brush it off - and it didn't move. It was slightly smeared on the seat - and then it hit me - a chocolate chip must have fallen from the granola bar (because you know my fat ass isn't getting the good granola bars, I'm getting the fatty ones that have chocolate and peanut butter) and underneath me as I was driving.

WHICH COULD ONLY MEAN ONE THING.

If it had gotten on my seat - there's an OUTSTANDINGLY GOOD chance that it had also gotten on my pants. And I just spent over three hours in a room with 200 other guys. And I probably have chocolate all over my backside.

That's when the little voice inside my head tried to reason with me. "Oh, come on Steve - it clearly didn't get on your pants. Someone would have said something - even just a snarky comment - something." - and then the voice found logic and said  "Unless they were making the snarky comments BEHIND YOUR BACK - WHERE THE CHOCOLATE IS!!!"

So I rushed home - hoping against hope that somehow the chocolate had only melted/smeared on my car seat and had magically left my pants unstained.

Boy, was I wrong.

Not Shit.

Anyway, thanks Granola Bars for keeping me good and single (and fat).

Sincerely,
Steve

Jambalaya

I had dinner tonight with some friends at Doughboys (which is awesome, btw) and ate jambalaya - it was so good. But I'm totally going into a food coma - so I'm glad I'm home and getting ready for bed.

I'm also exhausted because we had rehearsal last night - the concert is this weekend, and I'm really excited and very nervous for it. It will be nice to perform again - and it will also be nice to have this concert over so we can start learning new music.

Every rehearsal we have, I find myself daydreaming about becoming a music teacher. It was what I was going to go to college for before I got accepted into Emerson. Anyway, I just wonder how different my life would be if I was a music teacher - still most likely living in Central Nebraska. It would just be so different. First - my numbers wouldn't be 122, they would be like 7 (if even) - so I should be thankful for that. Second - I would be closer to family which can be both good and bad (especially with how cranky I would be only having 7 potential matches in a search area roughly 77,400 square miles).

Alright - enough about that. Let's talk about the site! It's up - and I'm actively promoting it. I'm both extremely nervous and extremely excited about that. I need to get the business cards to hand out now.

Also, I sent an email to the folks at Weebly because the text on the home page isn't doing what I want it to do. So we'll see if that gets sorted out.

Other than that text issue and me needing to update the blog more, I think the site is seriously ready to go. I mean, sure, I wish the Twitter feed immediately to the right of this post was the correct size, but I don't know how to fix that either.

I'll learn. I will.

In the meantime - I'm excited for the "Game of Thrones" miniseries. I need to finish the book first though. Your Steve Scott fact of the day is that I like Sci-Fi books and I like to finish them before watching the movie or TV show. If this sounds like something you would enjoy hearing about over coffee - send me a message on the Contact Steve page!
