I was attending a wedding last week on the East Coast - so I apologize for the blog being quiet. 

But, I visited some places in NYC that I really wanted to see.

Honoring Mark Bingham at the WTC Memorial

These were two things that I was really happy to see while visiting New York City. I really wanted to see where the modern LGBT Equality Movement started - and I also really wanted to remember Mark Bingham at the World Trade Center Memorial. I know that Mark wasn't the only LGBT person lost on 9/11 - but I do think that he is a very positive voice for the movement. I think of Mark often when reading or discussing DADT Repeal. When people think that someone can't be a patriot because of their sexual orientation - or that their sexual orientation might make them less effective in the military - I like to think of how effective Mark Bingham was on a day when we needed all the patriotism we could get. Because when he was helping fight for control of Flight 93, he wasn't fighting as a gay man - he was fighting as an American (who just so happens to be gay).

Thank you to those at Stonewall back in June of 1969. And thank you to all the LGBT Patriots lost on 9/11. I owe you all so much - and two little pictures on a dating blog doesn't even begin to do you justice, but it's a start.
